Urgent Med Housecalls

Obtaining immediate medical care is easy if you have a serious or life-threading medical condition. Just call 9-1-1, or go to your nearest hospital emergency department and immediate medical care will almost always be provided if it is determined to be necessary.

Patients who are acutely ill or injured, but not seriously so, usually want immediate medical care, as well, unless the timing is not convenient. Finding immediate medical care can be easy, or extremely challenging. Not everyone has the time available to sit endlessly in the medical office or clinic waiting room, hoping to be seen "between" previously scheduled patients.

Immediate medical care is often readily available at freestanding immediate medical care clinics called urgent care clinics. However these clinics can get busy and impose excessive wait times upon their patients. Any medical practice can keep the patient waiting, of course. However a returning trend, that of the doctor house call, offers waiting in comfort and style.

While medical services, usually offer rapid immediate medical care to their patients, patients occasionally must wait. However when house call patients do wait, they are not required to sit uncomfortably, and seemingly endlessly in public waiting rooms, possibly being exposed to nearby infectious patients. Patients simply rest at home or in their hotel room, read a book, watch TV or a movie, or perhaps continue to work or interact with family, friends or visitors.

House call patients tend to find that waiting comfortably for their doctor to arrive also pays off in the end. House call providers generally spend much more time with patients than most office and clinic providers. During most house call visits, time becomes less relevant and pressing than it is in the clinic. Physicians who travel to their patients tend to be able to focus more genuinely on their patients and so communication is more thorough.

When patients at home are experiencing symptomatic misery, such as nausea or pain, instead of the doctor writing orders for the nurse to find and render treatment, it is the house call provider who is responsible for instituting treatment so that patient's discomfort may be more rapidly alleviated. The doctor reaches into the bag, pulls out what is needed, and treatment immediately begins. It is the house call setting that allows for this most efficient and humane immediate medical care.
